Even amidst a river of overflowing tears, a mother wove for love. Even as her heart shattered, she ensured her son would never feel cold in the afterlife.

The main inspiration for this silent manga comes from the word "ma-atsay" which became the title of the manga. It originates from the Proto-Austronesian *ma-aCay /ma(ʔ)at͡saj/, which evolved into its several daughter languages like Malay "mati," Nias "mate," and Hawaiian "make," all meaning "death."

But here's the interesting part: the root of *ma-aCay sounds similar to Proto-Austronesian *Cay /t͡saj/, meaning "bridge." In a sense, ma-atsay represents "crossing a bridge (of death)."
