"R*d? That's just a myths of the ancient time."
On the brink of humanity’s extinction, a group of criminals try to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the color red from the universe; leads to a cosmic secret far beyond their understanding
This was my very first Webtoon created for competition, and also my first time experimenting with a new method and workflow. The story is actually a recycled version of my middle school project, Red-AGE, which originally featured my classmates as characters. The old premise was simple: "What if the color red vanished entirely from the universe without a trace?" In this new version, I spiced it up with cosmic horror and some ✨philosophical✨ themes
For the art style, I was mainly inspired by Mike Mignola and Gobelins’ Colza video. I tried using bold black shadows on the figures and even outlining the shadows. But it turned out to be way too time-consuming—just brushing in shadows with a regular multiply layer was waaay faster. Instead, I had to outline first, then fill each shape one by one with the paint bucket tool… really bad
I ended up abandoning the Webtoon version of this story and decided to adapt it into a print-format comic with a more refined(?) concept. Hopefully, I can publish it soon!
